In real life lately, I have had a lot of good questions from non-Christians (Muslim, Jew, Hindu, etc) about being Christian and our beliefs. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask them here. I am open to respectful discussions on this matter here or in PM. I am a Christian, but I have soul searched on this topic a lot over the years..
i never said i dont believe i dont have room for improvement, as everyone does, no matter their views on religion. being good = trying to do the right thing. being good =/= being perfect.
i was trying to say that being a "good person" is entirely subjective to the framework you put it in. insulting people for the way they see what a good person should be is pointless, especially if they basically believe the same things as you in a different way
Actually the best example for something. Is that he has faith that communism is the true ideology. That capitalism is unjust.
If you did not have faith in either of these ideas, how could you hold those opinions.

i cant fully comprehend quarks, but then again it doesnt affect my day to day life and i dont dedicate my life to quarks, as religious ppl do, its a false analogy
i trust things i cant understand, true, but i dont have complete faith on them and dedicate my life to them
Do you not dedicate your life to the pursuits of your own happiness? If you got married would you not be dedicating your life to your family and children?

i was raised christian and i was religious until i was 15 and then i realized that if there is a god, then he's a cruel ba$tard and i can be good and gay on my own without needing heaven as an incentive
are you though?
ya
saying that shows pride. you're actively committing the worst sin. the virtues of christianity aren't the same as your virtues. that's fine, but don't act like everyone's playing on the same field and that "you can be just as good as them" while being lots smarter and independenter
how does "ya" show pride tho..
because it shows that you believe you're a good person on your own accord. if you answered that question humbly you would acknowledge the need for improvement before being content with how you are

furthermore im an absurdist, there is no reason in my existence, there isnt a philosophical why life exists, it does cause of odds, odds were a planet would arise with conditions for life, odds were that a planet with said conditions would create life. words have meaning that the community agrees so love is just that, is the agreed upon word we use to what we think is that feeling, the same way we cant know if ur red is my red, we cant know if ur love is my love, consciouness is metaphysical but it also doesnt require a god
i have complete faith in this thing i cant undersand
a lot of people rely on their instincts to navigate through life, yet they cannot rationally explain why they hold these beliefs. i'm sure if you critically studied a lot of your own beliefs you'll find a lot of them are taken by pure faith. for example, what is love? what about consciousness? we know that the regular materialist explanation that these things are simple chemical reductions does not hold up anymore, this doesn't explain fully how these things work, yet you still trust them. you trust that you actually exist and are not being deceived by an evil demon, but you don't know for this certain, and you certainly don't know why life exists at all.
