Make it turn into third party instead please lol.

thats ok. They have to waste a kill on him. And depending on how the game is going, they might want to die as a villager anyway :)

I don't like how the mafia knows who he is cuz then if he turns villy they can just kill him. Rendering his ability useless.

Anxiety: They appear mafia by working for the mafia to pay off their debt. They appear innocent (But still in debt to the mafia) if they just sit there and let the debt collect and not do anything about it. The mafia release them of their debt only after they have paid back everything they owe. When they work off their debt they are doing bad things for the mafia (I'll let your imagination decide!)

To me the whole concept of this role is a bit backwards. By paying off their debt to the mafia, wouldn't that mean they're supporting the mafia? Yet somehow it turns them into a villager? And NOT paying their debt to the mafia is what keeps them in the mafia? The whole thing is backwards if you ask me.

Ok I'm going to make it twice and add a little twist of making it so they can't switch sides if there's no mafia left (So they cant autowin if they are the last mafia.

I think three times might be a bit much, how about 2?

So, is this a third party role? Or a mafia role that can switch to villager?

Thanks for all your comments. Still debating on 2 or 3 nights. I mostly like 3 because that means they are going to have to work hard to become village from N1. But the 2 night option gives them a bit of slack :) Still up in the air.

I think 2 nights would work a bit better, seeing how games last till around 3ish days. With 2 days to do it, having to option to at least once or twice not pay off the debts to avoid cops and still beable to work your way to being a townie would be better.

No It Just makes him more Dynamic in Large games and a Liability to the mafia

This role is amazing. Because it requires some skill on the Debtor's part. I think this character potentially has the same winning chances as fool, but is somewhat limited to big games based on Timer, or else you could never be not mafia. But yes, i think this character is very overpowering.

Hi Kelly :) Yes, the Mafia know the identity of the debtor, but the debtor does not know the identity of the mafia, and just receive anonymous whispers from them. The debtor can choose to support the mafia or they can decide they want to become a villager again. If they turn into a villager, they can be killed as normal by the mafia.

I'm kind of confused by this lol here are a few questions: will mafia be able to kill the debtor? if they can't then it's possible for them to know the identity..or does it not matter? I mean it's not like they should whisper that person since they are able to turn village at a certain point in the game.

Hi Paranoia :) Thanks for the comment. Actually, I think if the game starts at N1, they could turn village by Day 3. I'll keep that in mind though!

it's basically a super powered traitor with the power to go "fuck you guys I am going home."

Also, most games lately very rarely if ever see day 4 an beyond - meaning if they decided to betray the mafia it would be nigh pointless at that point - I'd recommend the nights needed to pay off their debt be reduced to two nights instead of three. That would give them enough time to figure which way the game is going to go and for them to capitalize on that without getting screwed over.

Well, in order to die mafia would have to not know who the debtor is, and that would happen n1 only since they probably will come up with a code "say 'alright' at the start of day". As for being killed by mafia not in night meeting, I don't know a role that can do that. And keep him innocent to cops, since having him guilty only helps the mafia, and helps the debtor himself in that process.

I like it, Whilst mafia sided he would make a good counter claiming role and the mafia could whisper him everything he needs to know. A quick suggestion maybe if he is still alive on day 3/4 he can choose to "pay off his debts" which will make him turn into a villager?

Seem interesting but is a really lazy role. He just acts like a regular townie and if mafia happens to win he wins anways. Only way he loses is if he dies and then mafia loses or some combination of non-killing mafia, etc. Needs some work I think.

Good question, HighSpace. Right now they lose if they are killed while Mafia are still alive and the mafia lose. They can also be killed by remaining mafia that do not attend night meetings in those setups. Perhaps that needs clarified. Or I could make it so that they do not appear innocent to cops.

So, how can the debtor lose?

This is pretty cool
