As a night action, can choose to martyr herself; dies in place of the night kill. Appears as blue to everybody but herself - including stalker - and appears as blue in graveyard.

good idea - role should appear to stalker though, and be visible upon death... and can only martyr to maf kills, not killer or vig:) if maf nk, martyr will live...
Cool role, but I have two questions for now (one of them might have been answered before the server got reset so sry if that was the case): 1.What happens if there is no night kill and the Martyr still chooses to Martyr? Does she still die? 2.Scenario: Several Blues, a Mafia, a Vig, and a Martyr. Vig shoots a blue and Maf kills a different blue. If the Martyr chooses to Martyr, do both of those blues get saved?
A great forum mafia role that's been around for ages, and really should be implemented. The whole appears as blue thing is incredibly important, but I do too think stalker should know the martyrs real role.
You could make it a 3rd party role in the same vein as lyncher/fool/ and the lover one I saw suggested. Like they choose someone at night, and if they get lynched he takes there place. If he saves town he gets points or something of that nature. It's a thought though.
The martyr could not be saved by the doc if they chose to martyr, but if the mafia targeted the martyr while they were not choosing to martyr, the save would work. And the martyr would show up in the GY, but as a blue, so the town would likely think that the martyr had just been the night kill, while the mafia would know that the martyr was out of the picture unless they had targetted the martyr that night.
Something I don't get- if Jim is the martyr, and dies for Bob, whose name shows up in the graveyard? If it's Jim's name, then the mafia will know that they've been martyred, and if it's Bob's name, then he'll know he's been martyred simply because he's still alive, right?
@Prime - the whole point is that nobody besides the martyr knows that they did it, since unless they've claimed, they appear as blue. If they do claim, of course, they're liable to be hooked in hooker setups...
I think the name works; it's like a standard person (blue) who chooses to die to save the life of some anonymous stranger, and even in death is anonymous (so they're not doing it for the glory).
@taiyu - the martyr doesn't pick a target to protect; they choose to die in place of whoever is the maf target, and they die even if a protective role is on them.
This role would be interesting in a number of scenarios. In multisetups, a martyr could be an optional replacement for a blue to help with slightly unbalanced setups. In setups where maf usually CCs a PR, a martyr instead of a doc/bg might choose to martyr themselves if they felt that a mafia sac was imminent. Icon would be a blue with a halo.
