Motivate others!

One morning you get up really excited and ready to do that one thing you've been putting off for ages. Maybe it's learning a new language, maybe writing an assignment, maybe finally vacuuming the floor in your house - anything. Right before doing your thing you decide to log onto epicmafia to see what's new, yet what was meant to only take 5 minutes actually takes you 3 hours and you never get around to do the thing you were planning to.

Does this situation sound familiar to you? It does sound familiar to me, which is why I thought it'd be really nice if we could motivate each other by saying good stuff. Positive reinforcement works, right?

Asking for personal motivations and personal (i.e. person-specific) motivations are accepted. Make sure to post your progress too to inspire others!

P.S. Both positive AND negative reinforcement accepted, the latter only to some extent.

Also remember delayed gratification and that working toward what you want, even if it makes you really unhappy right now, will probably make you feel really good afterward!

Also to everyone who needs to work on a computer but ends up wandering off to some time-consuming website *cough cough* epicmafia *cough cough* I suggest installing:

Leechblock if you use Firefox (you can block certain websites for a period of the day (say 9:00-22:00) or after a time limit (say 5 minutes))

StayFocusd if you use Chrome (I haven't tried this one yet but it does look a little better than leechblock in that it can let you block ALL websites except for those on your allowed websites list).
